Ruth Sangoya

Expert Seamstress & Skin Artisan

Ruth Sangoya lives in the community of Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet). She is a prominent community elder who spent much of her early life living a traditional life on the land. She is an expert seamstress, and has taught many generations how to sew. For the 2015 Mittimatalik Arnait Miqsuqtuit Project, Ruth Sangoya held a series of workshops on sealskin kamik making.  She joined the MAMC team again in 2018, working with Rhoda Arnakallak teaching Elisapee Katsak and Timotee Akoomalik how to process skins.
