Paomee Komangapik
Expert Seamstress & Skin Artisan
Paomee Komangapik lived in the community of Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet). She was a community elder renown for her expertise in land skills and her quiet wisdom. She spent much of her early life living a traditional life on the land and, at the time of our filming, was actively engaged in teaching women’s clothing manufacturing skills to community members and visitors with an interest in Inuit culture. For the 2015 Mittimatalik Arnait Miqsuqtuit Project, Paomee worked with Leah Kippomee, Amy Kippomee, Nancy Wachowich and Gro Ween, demonstrating the art of sealskin mitten-making.
