Regilee Ootova
Expert Seamstress & Educator
Regilee Oootova is a renown seamstress and educator in Mittimatalik. Until her retirement in 2018, Regilee worked at the high school teaching cooking, fabric/skin sewing and other domestic skills. She has also been a midwife for most of her adult life and is keen on reviving and preserving midwifery in the settlement. For the 2016 and 2017 MAMC recording sessions, Regilee worked with her niece Nancy, and her sister Sarahme, Sheila Katsak and Nancy Wachowich, demonstrating various aspects of sealskin garment making. She also represented MAMC at the 2016 Inuit Studies Conference and arts festival.
